God Healing Temple
A Pentecostal Holiness church rooted in prayer, healing, and the power of God at work in everyday life.
History of Our Church
God Healing Temple began as one of five churches bearing the name New Jerusalem Holiness Fellowship Church of God under Bishop Sellie Williams in March of 1976, in the home of Mother Armett J. Shepard, where she served as Pastor.
Shortly after its beginning, the church moved to a storefront at 85 Prospect St., affectionately known as "The Hole In The Wall" because of its size. Following God's plan and with Bishop Williams's blessing, Mother Shepard established God Healing Temple after a convention of churches that year.
The church steadily grew and moved to 89 Jefferson Avenue, then in 1986 to 422 Remington Street. Today, God Healing Temple occupies the 3rd floor of the Auditorium Center at 875 E. Main St. — continuing the assignment that began in Mother Shepard's living room.
