Our Mission

To help them that are lost to worldly living, to obtain salvation through sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, thereby equipping present and future laborers in the building of God's kingdom on earth and in heaven. Our mission is accomplished through Christian education which includes biblical based teaching and preaching presentations.

History Of Our Church

God Healing Temple began as one of five churches bearing the name New Jerusalem Holiness Fellowship Church of God under Bishop Sellie Williams in March of 1976, in the home of Mother Armett J. Shepard and she was the Pastor. Shortly after its beginning the church was moved to a storefront at 85 Prospect St. This location was affectionately known as "The Hole In The Wall" because of its size. After the convention of churches that year, Mother Shepard, following God's plan, with the blessings of Bishop Williams, split from New Jerusalem Holiness Fellowship Church of God and founded God Healing Temple. The church began to experience growth and soon outgrew "The Hole In The Wall." The church later relocated to a converted house at 89 Jefferson Avenue where it remained until 1986.when it was relocated to 422 Remington Street. The church has since moved to 875 E. Main St. on the 3rd floor of the Auditorium Center.

What We Believe

God Healing Temple is an independent Pentecostal Holiness church founded on the following principles:

  • We believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit which is the Comforter.

  • We believe God is the creator of all things.

  • We believe the bible to be divinely inspired by God.

  • We believe in the gospel which is the birth, the life, the death, the resurrection and second coming of Jesus Christ.

Statement of Faith

We are determined that God will provide for and take care of us therefore we place all things in His hands, knowing that if we press our way through, He will strengthen us when we are weak and allow us to rise above all the devices, meant to destroy and keep us from seeing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when He comes back to receive His people unto Him.

Our statement of faith comes from Isaiah 40:28-31

"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
